Compounding for the Veterinary Patient

Veterinary compounding plays a crucial role in the health and treatment of animals. Compounding for the Veterinary Patient is a 14.5 hour practice-based program that introduces pharmacists, technicians and marketers to veterinary pharmacy compounding. The program provides the regulatory history of veterinary compounding along with pharmacology, compounding guidelines and options for the veterinary patient. This course is designed to help meet the challenges of customizing medications for a variety of species, along with the challenges of medication compliance.

In Spectrum's state-of-the-art compounding laboratory,
attendees will:

·       Perform compounding of several dosage forms commonly used in veterinary medicine

·       Explain the importance of proper documentation of a compounding record for each formulation

·       Recognize safety precautions required in handling APIs used in veterinary preparations

·       List the equipment and supplies required to compound veterinary preparations
