Each year, pharmacists and stakeholders travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in professional development sessions, network with colleagues and, most importantly, make the case for protecting compounding to their elected representatives in Congress. |

Rep. Joe Barton Fundraising Reception Feb. 18, 2009 IACP participated in a fundraiser held by Dr. Steven Hotze in Houston for Rep. Barton (R-Texas). Pharmacy compounding issues were discussed, including estriol, the recent court decisions, and the potential for federal legislation to “fix” the current problems that compounding pharmacies face in dealing with the FDA. Rep. Barton has been a supporter of compounding and said he would continue to be supportive. |

Sen. Bernie Sanders Reception Feb. 12, 2009 IACP hosted a luncheon for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in Washington, D.C. The discussion at the luncheon centered exclusively on compounding pharmacies and the work they do for patients, hospitals and the community. The senator expressed a particularly strong interest in the area of autism and what compounding can do for autistic patients. |

Sen. Tom Coburn Pharmacy Visit & Fundraising Reception Jan. 23, 2009 Jerrod Roberts, an IACP board member, hosted Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) on Jan. 23, 3009, at his pharmacy in Oklahoma City, Okla. Due to the strong participation of IACP compounding pharmacist members and our sister pharmacy organizations, IACP was able to raise $10,500 for Sen. Coburn, one of our staunchest supporters in the U.S. Senate. Sen. Coburn has gone to bat for compounding pharmacists numerous times. |

Rep. Sam Farr Pharmacy Visit Oct. 27, 2008 Dana Gordon, an IACP member, hosted Rep. Sam Farr on Oct. 27, 2008, at his pharmacy in Pacific Grove, Calif. The congressman visited for over an hour and appeared to be thoroughly enlightened, educated and entertained. Rep. Farr was thanked for his generous support of independent pharmacy, pharmacy compounding. |

IACP Mexican Fiesta Oct. 23, 2008 On Oct. 23, 2008, IACP hosted a fun-filled Mexican Fiesta for our members. Pharmacists from all over the United States and Canada were treated to delicious Mexican food and festive Mariachi music. The Fiesta also presented the perfect setting for networking and catching up with old friends. |

Rep. Gene Green Fundraising Reception Oct. 22, 2008 IACP hosted Rep. Gene Green (D-Texas) at the IACP headquarters on Oct. 22, 2008, for a fundraising reception. More than 40 IACP members, pharmacists, and other stakeholders in pharmacy compounding enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres during the reception that raised funds for Rep. Green’s campaign. |
