IACP Fellowship

What PCAB does for your pharmacy, IACP Fellowship does for YOUTHE STAMP OF EXCELLENCE.

The Fellowship Program of IACP offers pharmacists the opportunity to be recognized by their colleagues and to be distinguished in their communities as specialists in the art and skill of pharmacy compounding.

Established in 1997, the Fellowship Program distinguishes pharmacists who are exemplary in their professionalism and commitment to the practice of pharmacy compounding. Each applicant’s credentials are assessed against rigorous criteria that include contributions to published literature, continuing education, presentations, leadership, professional and civic service as well as professional awards. The criteria are designed to maintain a balance between subject areas and to ensure that the IACP Fellows are diverse in their practices as well as their community activities.

IACP Fellows meet stringent requirements designed to demonstrate their commitment to patient care through quality pharmacy compounding and their commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards. All Fellows must be registered pharmacists who have practiced pharmacy for at least five years and practiced as a compounding pharmacist for at least three years.

Only 62 pharmacists have been honored as members of this elite group.

What are the benefits?

  • Demonstrate to your patients, physicians and colleagues your higher level of expertise and commitment to the profession of compounding.
  • Set an example of excellence in your profession.
  • Bring more to your practice and demonstrate that you are diversified in both your practice and your community activities.
  • Fellowship is the highest distinction awarded by IACP, the foremost trade association dedicated to pharmacy compounding. IACP Fellows are an elite group whose achievements are highlighted in IACP literature, referred to media as excellent practitioners, and provided various networking opportunities.

Eligibility

Fellows are inducted once a year at the IACP Annual Meeting & Compounders on Capitol Hill. IACP members are eligible if they:

  • Adhere to the Academy’s Code of Ethics,
  • Currently practice or actively support the art and skill of compounding pharmacy, and
  • Have been a member of IACP for at least three years.

Requirements

In order to be considered for Fellowship, candidates must:

  • Be nominated by at least one current Fellow.
  • Earn a set amount of points in various categories of service and professional involvement such as continuing education, presentations and published articles, professional awards, and professional and civic service.
  • Submit a questionnaire with supportive materials, a bio-sketch and a $300 application fee.
  • Complete the Fellowship application and be approved by the Fellowship Committee which then makes a recommendation for approval to the IACP Board of Directors.

Process

Following the application process, you then enter the interview phase. Two or three current Fellows travel to your pharmacy to conduct an interview and a pharmacy inspection. The inspection assesses cleanliness, organization, space, compounding equipment and reference materials. The interview determines your commitment to IACP’s Code of Ethics and provides the Fellows an understanding of your pharmacy practices, commitment to quality, marketing practices, willingness to share with colleagues and customer service philosophies.
