How compounded medication made me feel young again

After having a partial hysterectomy, gall bladder surgery and onset of Hashimoto's disease when I was 49 and 50, I felt horrible, yet had to face day-to-day working at a new job, going through a divorce and adjusting to single life. My doctor prescribed Premarin, which did make me feel some better but I could have died and felt even better. The synthetic thyroid hormones helped some but I still did not feel like myself. When I began to hear horror stories about Premarin and synthetic female hormones, I stopped taking the horse "pee."

In the meantime I remarried a man who had some physical problems of his own. As years went by, he began to experience fogginess and tiredness and went to his physician, who tested him and found he needed thyroid and some cortisol. He prescribed Armour Thyroid since it is a natural hormone and metabolized by the body better. As he is a D.O. and of Asian descent, he is a very knowledgeable and forward thinking young man. He also recommended that since I hadn't felt well that I come in for a check-up on my hormones. When we mapped out the lack of metabolism for the synthetic thyroid hormone, we found that I was only metabolizing about half. He switched me to the Armour thyroid and within six hours I could feel the difference! He also prescribed compounded natural hormones (estriol, testosterone, estradiol, etc.) for me and also testosterone for my husband. Within a matter of a week, I felt as though I was thirty again. I can even say that the allergies I have experienced for the last five years have subsided and my immune system seems much stronger. My skin, which was drying out, has natural oils again. My sex drive has returned. My energy has returned.

No one can believe the changes I have undergone unless they have experienced something like this for themselves. Please-Please-Please I beg of you, do not take my life away from me again. Do not fall to the will of the drug companies and refuse women the right to use the medications that make them feel better. Ask any woman who is receiving treatment and find out for yourself. This is tantamount to violating women's right and removing the ability for me to live a fulfilling life.
