Pharmacy name: Absolute Pharmacy, Lutz, Fla.
Provide a brief bio of your career.
I have been a pharmacist for 43 years. I have been involved in the compounding world for the last 11 years. I joined AnazaoHealth in 2005. At that time, USP <797> was in its infancy. I had the privilege of working in a company that early on understood the seriousness and discipline required to protect the welfare of patients in following USP <797> and related chapters. In the 8 ½ years I was with AnazaoHealth I played several roles, including Operations Director and Regulatory and Compliance Director. After I left AnazaoHealth, I continued to apply my knowledge to the benefit of other similar pharmacy businesses, including my present position as Director of Operations for Absolute Pharmacy. I also have an active consulting business and continue to help other pharmacies with compliance and regulatory issues.
Please provide a statement of why you want to serve.
I would like to more directly participate in advocacy for our fellow compounding pharmacists. This is a very anxious time for our profession. Regulatory agencies seem to have a difficult time understanding the parameters of our practice and the absolute benefit we provide to our patients. We must continue aggressively to have our voice heard for allowing us to continue to provide the public with alternative medication therapies to what big Pharma has to offer. IACP, which has the largest representation of compounding pharmacists in the nation needs to continue this effort. I would be proud the be a board member and help wherever I can.
Tell us how compounded pharmaceuticals have helped you, someone you know, or how you have helped someone as a practicing compounding pharmacist. Help us protect your continued access to pharmacy compounding!
