IACP Q&A
Share |

Every week, IACP members contact our offices for questions about practice, business, legislation and other issues. If you have a question you'd like answered, send it to iacpinfo@iacprx.org!

This week's question comes from an IACP member regarding
the proposed USP Chapter <800>.

Question:  When is USP <800> going to be enforceable?

Answer:  Not until....

1)  USP completes the review of all the submitted comments (deadline was 31 July).
2)  The Expert Committee reconvenes and makes changes.
3)  The revised standard is put out for additional public comment and review.
4)  Repeat steps 1 and 2.
5)  The final standard is published.
6)  There is a 6 month implementation date.
7)  Just this week, NIOSH issued an updated list of hazardous drugs that may warrant additional comments to USP as well.

Best guess... January 2016 at the very earliest. Click here for more information.
