IACP Attends PCAC Meeting
IACP’s John Voliva, RPh, Executive Vice President, attended the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) in person on June 23rd.
“It appears we may have turned a bit of a corner in how these Committee meetings are being conducted,” says John. “With Jane Axelrad’s departure from the FDA, compounding is now primarily overseen by a new agency official, Julie Dohm. The way the meeting was run, providing more equal opportunity for testimony from both the drug substance nominator and the public, was appreciated. In addition, we saw the Committee vote against the FDA’s recommendation for two drugs (Tea Tree Oil & DMPS) and voted to place them on the positive list.
