With an expected 400 total attendees in 2014, CCH brings together the top-level compounding pharmacists and technicians from across the country with the same goal – to protect pharmacy compounding. Don't miss the only pharmacy compounding event that takes our issues directly to Washington, D.C.'s doorstep.
SESSION HIGHLIGHT: Join Ernest P. Gates, RPh, FASCP, FIACP, FACA during Third Party Networks: Examine Industry Trends on Limited Provider Networks.
As a pioneer in the fields of pharmacy compounding, IACP Board of Directors Member Ernest P. Gates, RPh, FASCP, FIACP, FACA, President of Gates Healthcare Associates provides strategic advice, counsel, and support to a broad cross-section of health care organizations. Join Mr. Gates as he presents, Third Party Networks: Examine Industry Trends on Limited Provider Networks from 4:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. This program is made possible through an unrestricted educational grant-in-aid from Humco Compounding. The marketplace economics driving reimbursement for compounds are almost identical to the ones that impacted traditional prescription drugs 15 years ago — ever decreasing payment for ingredients, the beginning identification of preferred suppliers over others, the denial of coverage for entire classes of medicines, and the formation of exclusive and limited provider networks. Even government programs like Medicaid and Medicare are under pressure to reduce drug spending by changing the traditional “any willing provider” philosophy under which those major payers have operated since their inception. What does the future hold for compounders? Are limited provider networks inevitable? This insightful seminar will show how network formation for compounding pharmacies are already underway and what IACP members need to know in order to adjust their business models to take advantage of those opportunities.
This session has been approved for 1.0 contact hours (0.10 CEUs) of Live CE. The IACP 2014 Compounders on Capitol Hill has been approved for 14.5 contact hours (1.45 CEUs) and attendees may acquire up to 11.5 contact hours (1.15 CEUs) of continuing education credit.
At the conclusion of this educational session, the pharmacist and technician attendee will be able to:
Presented by: Ernest P. Gates, RPh, FASCP, FIACP, FACA, Gates Healthcare Associates
- Describe the current changes in Third Party reimbursement.
- Explain how Third Party Networks are evolving and impacting your pharmacy.
- Discuss three advantages of forming a Third Party Networks.
