Dear IACP Member,

As Chairman of the International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists’ Political Action Committee (COMP PAC), I feel honored to have the opportunity to ask you for a personal contribution to compounding pharmacy’s only political action committee dedicated to supporting candidates who support compounding pharmacists. I am sure that I do not need to tell you what a difficult and challenging year this has been for compounding pharmacists nationwide.

IACP continues to doggedly work on issues affecting compounding pharmacies, at the state, national and international levels. Additionally, in this era of anti-compounding legislative and regulatory initiatives, IACP has been more aggressive in its political participation than ever before. Your contribution will help IACP continue to support candidates who are pro-compounding, pro-patient and pro-doctor/patient/pharmacist coordination (those who support the medical “triad.”). This is something desperately needed by our industry now more than ever before.

Last year, COMP PAC raised $104,000 from committed IACP members. Just in the first eight months of 2013, we've received $146,000 in contributions....and I have a personal goal of reaching at least $200,000 this year. Will you help us reach that goal?

I urge you to ask yourself the following questions while you consider making a contribution to the IACP COMP PAC:

  • If a $100 check to your child’s high school meant the difference between your child graduating or not, would you write that check?
  • If a $100 check to your local police department could prevent a serious crime from being committed, would you write that check?
  • If a $100 check to your Senator or Representative to Congress could save your profession, would you write that check?
The time is now! We must all take responsibility for ensuring that our right to compound and care for our patients is not impeded by some well-intentioned, but ill-conceived legislation. We can do that as individuals by telling our own stories and engaging our patients to do the same. We can do that as an organization through Political Action by contributing to those candidates (by electing and keeping those elected officials in Congress) who support our industry.

In the coming weeks, COMP PAC, the IACP Political Action Committee, will be working to target key members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives who are agreeable to our concerns and policy suggestions. To be effective, we need your time and your financial support.

We will be looking to organize fundraising events in states where Members of Congress supportive to our cause reside. If you live in one of those states, or better yet, if you live in a key legislator's district, we will be reaching out to you to help organize these events.

Congress can change the course of the legislation currently being proposed; but, they will only do so if they hear from us. Be involved. Make phone calls. Enlist your family, friends, employees and patients. And please, write that check! Your contribution will support candidates who value personalized medication solutions and compounding pharmacy.

To make a donation, please click here for a COMP PAC contribution form and return it to IACP as soon as possible to allow our continued participation in key political events and activities. Thank you in advance for your participation and involvement in this important and critical effort.

Sincerely,

Michael Blaire, RPh
Chairman, IACP COMP PAC Committee
