Sunday Night Fever - 9th Annual Rx Mixer Raises More Than $205,000!
Boogie down! The ‘70s were all about disco balls, polyester shirts, gold chains, platform shoes and shakin your groove thang. Sunday, June 2nd was certainly a groovy night at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va. More than 280 compounders from across the country gathered at Sunday Night Fever, the 9th Annual Rx Mixer, to support the IACP Foundation’s mission of quality, integrity and advancement of pharmacy compounding for the benefit of patients! IACP Foundation President Shara Rudner, RPh, FIACP, welcomed guests to this year’s event, emphasizing that Rx Mixer was a Party with a Purpose, and one of the primary ways to ensure the future of pharmacy compounding.
Our funky music deejay kept the retro tunes spinning and kept the dancers on the LED disco dance floor. The party rocked not only with the oldie-but-goldie disco tunes but also with the costuming indulged in by at least half of the revelers. Wigs, platform shoes, go-go boots, gold lame and sequins punctuated the party attire.
The evening began with cocktails, blackjack, craps and poker in the ballroom where gaming tables were complemented by a bountiful line-up of raffle packages and Treasure Boxes. We showcased our disco themed party with ‘70s food such as disco fries, chicken pot pies, mac and cheese, mini burgers, fondue and other tempting treats.
At the end of the live auction, attendees generously contributed to Fund-the-Future, providing student scholarships for attending Compounders on Capitol Hill 2014. The event brought in more than $205,000 in gross revenues –besting the evening’s $165,000 objective, and last year’s results by more than $36,000!

Fund-the-Future Offers Students Invaluable Washington, D.C. Experience
IACP Foundation's Fund-the-Future program provides an incredible way for you to help introduce the future of our profession – our pharmacy students – to the importance of pharmacy compounding! Fund-the-Future raises monies to bring pharmacy students to the one of the most important events in pharmacy compounding – Compounders on Capitol Hill.
Through the generosity of donors to Fund-the-Future at the annual Rx Mixer in 2012, the IACP Foundation was able to provide six pharmacy students with a unique scholarship to attend its annual meeting of Compounders on Capitol Hill 2013, held June 1–4, 2013, in Washington, D.C.
The inaugural group of Fund-the-Future students attending CCH 2013 included: Kacey Adams; Jay Fajiculay; Jenni-Lyn Ladutko; Henry Kim; Meaghan Paris, and Garreth Russell.
Describing her CCH experience, Jenni-Lyn Ladutko, says, "Thanks to the Foundation and everyone who was involved in innovating, organizing, and funding the 2013 CCH student scholarship. It was an incredible experience, and I appreciate all of your efforts to involve the students. I truly got a lot out of this conference. Not only was I given the opportunity to meet, network, and ask questions of many IACP members, but I was able to further my learning on current compounding regulatory issues and actually experience the legislative process first hand. I really got a lot out of this conference and wish to thank every one of you."
Thank you to: Lisa Ashworth; Dale Coker; David Kazarian; Lucy Malmberg; Tom Marks; Gary McCory; Becca Mitchell; Kevin Oberlander; Brenda Pavlic; Erik Tosh; Eric Vidrine, and John Voliva. Their generous Fund-the-Future donations made at Rx Mixer 2013 will enable us to send 10 students to Compounders on Capitol 2014, being held in Washington, D.C., May 17-20, 2014.
Scholarships, valued up to $2,500 each, will cover the following expenses:
• Full registration for one person to attend Compounders on Capitol Hill 2014
• Three nights of hotel accommodations
• Round–trip economy class airfare for one person
• Up to $250 in travel expenses for transportation, parking and meals not covered by registration.
