Seaside CE with ACA, IACP, and ACVP proved to be a wonderful 3-in-1 combination!
The three-day ACA, IACP, ACVP Educational Conference in Dana Point, Calif. drew more than 276 attendees from 38 states and 4 Canadian provinces and Guam. All three leading pharmacy associations gathered at the luxurious St. Regis Monarch Beach resort with one ultimate goal, to provide unique Continuing Education programs.
Offering 21 contact hours (2.1 CEUs) allowing attendees to acquire up to 12 contact hours (1.2 CEUs), the Educational Conference provided many meaningful hours of networking opportunities both during the meeting and on the beautiful grounds of the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort. The program consisted of targeted sessions for pharmacists, technicians, marketing representatives, and open to pharmacy students on pharmacy law, marketing and promotional guidelines, disease management, and veterinary drug information, among many other topics.

Kicking off the first night, ACA & IACP Corporate Partner Fagron, Inc. (formally Gallipot) sponsored the Welcome Reception, where Fagron’s Mark Kieren, Sales Manager and Etta Johnson, CPhT welcomed everyone to the meeting as attendees from all three pharmacy organizations met for the first time!
This year’s Ambassador and First-timer program took place during the Welcome Reception. Nearly 30 attendees participated in the program, allowing new members, students and first-timers to connect with their Ambassador prior to the start of the meeting. We’d like to thank our Educational Conference Ambassadors for reaching out to these new members and helping them become better acquainted with ACA, IACP and ACVP!
On Thursday, February 7, the programming began with a general session combining all three organizations presented by keynote speaker Colette Carlson, President, Speak Your Truth, Inc.on The Truth About Balance: How to Stress Less and Laugh More.

During the conference, the ACA, IACP, and ACVP Fellowship Awards Luncheon honored new Fellows, who have distinguished themselves for a variety of achievements in the pharmacy profession.

ACVP honored Charlene Vernak, RPh, FACA, FACVP, Vernak Farms Country Store (Skaneateles, N.Y.); Joe Moore, RPh, FIACP, FACA, FACVP, Medical Center Compounding Pharmacy (Cleveland, Tenn.); and Cory Garvin, PharmD, FACA, FACVP, Wester Drug, Inc. (Muscatine, Iowa).
On Friday, February 8, the festivities included several social events including the IACP COMP PAC Reception, welcoming the Honorable Matt Salmon, U. S. House of Representatives (R-AZ-5) as the keynote speaker. This exclusive event allowed 25 members to have a candid and direct dialogue with the Congressman to talk about the future of health care and compounding as well as the current regulatory and legislative issues facing compounding pharmacies. All proceeds went to our goal of raising $200,000 and making COMP PAC one of the largest political action committees in pharmacy.
The ACA Foundation & the ACA/ACVP President’s Reception and Banquet
The highlight of the ACA/ACVP banquet is the celebration and installation of the ACA/ACVP Officers, as well as the presentation of the ACA Foundation Awards. The Foundation presented the Albert E Rosica, Jr. Memorial Award, The Dean’s Recognition Award and the Victor H. Morgenroth, Jr. Memorial Award with more than 100 guests in attendance.
Later that evening, all attendees joined ACA, IACP, and ACVP for the Celebration Dessert Reception sponsored by IACP Corporate Partner Letco Medical. The casual reception brought all three pharmacy organizations together for a wonderful evening of fellowship over an array of delicious desserts and cocktails.
One special highlight that evening included Josh Van Vooren, Vice President of Sales and ACA Fellow and IACP Member Erik Tosh, RPh, FACA of Letco Medical generously raffling off two packages for a 2013 Compounders on Capitol Hill registration with one ticket to the Letco Medical Rx Mixer table at Compounders on Capitol Hill in June. The winners were ACA, IACP, and ACVP Member David B. Liebman, RPh of Kaye's Pharmacy from Baltimore, Md. and ACA, IACP, and ACVP Member Thomas Hunt, RPh of Lindenwood Drug in St. Louis Mo.
