During an invitational Town Hall teleconference on Thursday, December 6, 2012, for its members, state pharmacy associations, and state Boards of Pharmacy, IACP's President Scott Karolchyk, MS, RPh, DNM, FIACP, and Executive Vice President & CEO David G. Miller, RPh, announced the Academy's recommendations for changes in state pharmacy practice acts to further protect consumers and preserve pharmacists' professional decision making in preparing compounded medications. These principles, as developed by the IACP Board of Directors, focus on assuring inspection authority by and adequate funding of all state Boards of Pharmacy, individual practices' compliance with state laws and regulations, and mandatory compliance with quality standards for all practitioners engaged in compounding.
