Educational Conference 2012

IACP's Educational Conference in Dana Point - What a Beautiful Way to Learn!

The three-day IACP Educational Conference in Dana Point, Calif. drew more than 100 attendees from 33 states as well as countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia. All with one common goal to work together and advance pharmacy compounding. From February 23-26, 2012, IACP Members gathered at the luxurious St. Regis Monarch Beach resort to attend targeted sessions for compounders on quality assurance programs; niche marketing opportunities including veterinary compounding, cosmeceuticals, and hospital drug shortages as well as sessions on marketing and promotional rules and guidelines.

With IACP’s Board President Scott Karolchyk, RPh, FIACP, at the helm, the IACP Board of Directors met onsite to discuss the year’s upcoming initiatives and goals.

“I’m honored to lead our Academy as we begin the 20th year of Protecting, Promoting & Advancing Pharmacy Compounding! I have greatly enjoyed serving on the Board the last few years alongside IACP’s Immediate Past President, John Herr, RPh, FIACP, who has done a tremendous job leading our association over the past year.

As we debut IACP’s inaugural Educational Conference, we are proud of the momentum this organization has achieved over the past few years, and are looking forward to engaging even more members and support as we introduce new IACP events and activities in the coming year. IACP will forever be vigilant in protecting your right to compound! Thank you for supporting IACP as we continue to strengthen and increase the value of your membership!”

Offering 12 contact hours (1.2 CEUs) of programming, the Educational Conference provided many meaningful hours of networking opportunities both during the meeting and on the beautiful grounds of the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort. Kicking off the first night, IACP Corporate Partner Fagron, Inc. (formally Gallipot) sponsored the Welcome Reception – where Fagron’s President Gary Schneider, RPh, welcomed everyone to the meeting as attendees mingled with new and old friends.

On Saturday evening, the festivities continued with the Compounders Cocktails Reception, a unique mixology-style event, sponsored by IACP Corporate Partner Letco Medical and raising nearly $9,000 towards the IACP Foundation pharmacy student activities. More than 50 people attended the event to learn how to make four classic cocktails, including the secret St. Regis Bloody Mary recipe. One special highlight that evening included Letco Medical generously raffling off tickets to the Letco Medical Rx Mixer table at Compounders on Capitol Hill in June. The Rx Mixer ticket winners were IACP Member Craig Kvam, RPh, of Poulsbo Compounding Pharmacy, Poulsbo, Wash., and IACP Member Erik Clausen, PharmD, of Golden Gate Pharmacy, San Rafael, Calif.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the latest resources and technologies with a full exhibit hall featuring 14 leading companies in pharmacy compounding. IACP would like to thank the following exhibitors for their commitment to the Educational Conference: American College of Apothecaries, Analytical Research Laboratories, Digi-Trax Corporation, Essential Formulas, Fagron (formerly Gallipot), Freedom Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Life-File, LLC., MEDISCA, PCCA, Rx Skin Therapy, Storey Marketing, The Compounders Group, Vinco, and ZRT Laboratory.

IACP would like to thank the following meeting sponsors for their support of the Educational Conference: Topi-Click Topical Dosing Applicator (Continental Breakfast and Mid-day Break Sponsor), Letco Medical (Compounders Cocktails Reception Sponsor), Fagron (formerly Gallipot) (Welcome Reception Sponsor), MEDISCA (T-shirt Sponsor), Freedom Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
